Garden Party and Boat Naming Ceremony - August 2004
The City of Bath Mayor, Cllr. Roger Symonds came along to Minerva Bath's Annual Garden Party to name and launch the latest additions to the clubs fleet: 2 single and 2 double Virus sculls called Bath Plug, Bath Tap, Bath Sponge and Bubble Bath and a lightweight coxed four called Athena, which will be used exclusively by women members (and William and Gary) of the club for racing events . After naming the boats his Lordship the Mayor was persuaded to have a paddle with our President, veteran Arnold Cooke. Fortunately Arnold took it easy and the Mayor made it ashore in one piece after a 2000 metre timed piece.. We were also able to handover a cheque for £1100 to the Bath Junior Gateway Club, which works with children who have learning difficulties. The money was raised by club members through various sponsored events over the year. Many thanks to those who gave up their valuable time to organise the event, which included face painting and bouncy castle for the growing youth element of the club.
